NCAA COACHES APPROVAL PROGRAM (Mandatory for 7th grade - Senior to be teams)
Any coach or bench personnel particpating in the 2012 NCAA Certified Storm Classic must be certified through the NCAA's Coaches Approval Program. Below are some helpful hints to help coaches get through the process in a timely manner. This is a mandatory online application so please do not delay.
Requirements include:
*Access to the internet
*Knowledge regarding the NCAA basketball certification rules
*A valid credit card that can be used to pay for the application process
In applying, coaches need to keep the following issues in mind: An electronic waiver must be agreed upon by the applicant which allows for the results of the background check to be shared with the NCAA. Accurate input of information is critical. Therefore, full legal name and current and some past address information will be needed in the application process. Early application is important. The process may take up to 30 days to complete. The use of common names or conflicting information may slow the process so early application is strongly encouraged.
Under no circumstances will non-certified personnel be allowed near the bench area during the course of the event. All required players and coaches MUST comply with all NCAA requiriements for participation in an NCAA certified event. All 7th grade through 17u (senior to be) coaches must be officially certified through the NCAA to coach in this years Storm Classic. Coaches will NOT be allowed to coach without proof of certification. The NCAA may impose a financial penalty for applications submitted late. Therefore, we strongly encourage ALL required coaches and bench personnel to apply early. The NCAA criterion for approval is as follows:
Each applicant must pass the NCAA rules test with a minimum score of 70% and have no felony convictions or felony charges pending. There is no waiver or appeal available for a denial of approval. PeopleWise can be contacted once the background check is completed if there is a dispute as to the accuracy of the information provided to the NCAA. Ready to complete your 2012 certification?
